Super Sport Atom - Tapered Double Skin
About
If I was to buy a fun track car it would be the Ariel Atom designed in the UK, it represents design engineering at it very best.
This sim rig is my design tribute to the Arial Atom, designed by Niki Smart....
Materials
This sim rig requires a medium level of skill to build because it has some angle chamfer cut but builds a very strong sim rig made from 5/8" MDF & 2" by 3" softwood construction timber.
- Three 8' * 4' sheets of MDF or plywood for the panels
- 32 feet of 1 3/4" * 1 3/4" construction softwood for the panel stiffeners.
- 15 feet of 1" * 2" construction softwood for internal corner bracing.
All drawings have dual dimensions for Europe & North America.
STEP 1 - Ordering
Choose the Plans, Digital or Physical.
OSR will send you the digital plans normally within 24 hours. The digital plans are released using google drive, this process is 100% manual, so a little patience is sometimes required :-). It helps the process if you have a gmail account, but this is not essential.
If you choose paper version these have a 10 day lead time.
STEP 2 - Assembling & Cutting
We suggest you use 1:1 scale paper plans and lay on wood to cut with a jigsaw & circular saw
Wood Working Tools
Minimum required
- Jig saw
- Table saw (highly recommended because some of the boards have a 10 degree chamfer.)
- Mitre saw
- Router
- Drill
The assembly process is very straight forward, but you require basic wood working skills. Sorry, we do not provide a step by step assembly guide.
STEP 3 - Mounting
Mount chosen Monitors, Seat, and Hardware (not provided).
